Our Evening with Buzz Bissinger

Late last week I traveled from California to Reading, Pennsylvania so that I could, along with many like-minded supporters, witness/protest/provoke author Buzz Bissinger as he spoke at the Penn State Berks campus. I did this because if all of the media members who have been outrageously wrong in their commentary about the Sandusky scandal, Bissinger has been by far the worst. I wrote about why I feel that way in a previous post here.

The “Big Lie Theory,” which history credits to Adolf Hitler, is based on the notion that the larger the deception the more people will be prone to believe it because they won’t be able to comprehend how anyone could get away with such a brazen act of dishonesty.

Based on what we now know, exactly two years later, about the Jerry Sandusky scandal, it is clear that the “Big Lie Theory” played a critical role in how the story was allowed to develop, especially with regard to the blame for it placed on Joe Paterno.

Last week there was a news story indicating that yet another victim of Jerry Sandusky had settled his case for big money with Penn State. Ray Blehar emailed me to say that he was quite certain that this particular victim was highly suspect, largely because of the age of the person and some of the details which were given in the story.

One of the "reporters" who has been by far the most critical of Penn State and Joe Paterno during the Sandusky scandal has been Christine Brennan from USA Today (she even wrote a column warning Penn State not to honor Paterno with a moment of silence in the first game after his death).

Of the many incredibly frustrating elements of the never-ending saga that is the Sandusky scandal, there is probably none more demoralizing than the reality that there have been numerous occasions where “bombshell” developments have occurred which should have altered the landscape of the story, and yet the impact of them has been minimal at best.

My Last Email Exchange With Jim Clemente

Before and after my interview with Jerry Sandusky I had extremely extensive and intensive interaction with sex crimes expert Jim Clemente, who had previously written a highly-praised report for the Paterno family. Most of our communication was via email and on the phone, though we did meet once on the set of his TV show "Criminal Minds."

Exclusive Breaking News: Showtime May Be Prevented From Airing CBS Interview With Sandusky Prosecutor

FramingPaterno.com has learned exclusively that Tim Curley and Gary Schultz have filed an emergency motion with the court to prevent Showtime from airing portions of an interview with Sandusky prosecutor Frank Fina.

The motion was filed because of inappropriate remarks regarding their alleged guilt made by him in a CBS news story yesterday previewing the "60 Minutes Sports" episode scheduled to premiere tonight.

Jerry Sandusky has previously told me in our prison interview (pages 11 and 12) that Penn State should not be paying the victims, and specifically Victim 2, in his case.

Last week I asked him about several of the most high-profile settlements which have just been announced by Penn State. Although he did not respond directly my questions, he did react in general to the settlements in a very substantive way.
